THE HERITAGE 1865 LEGACY
FAMILY VALUES MATTER
At Heritage you are invited to be a part of the family. It is our family tradition to treat all of our guests as one of us. This is why we are excited to share with you just a few words about our history.
We have been working and exploring every piece of this property for over 150 years! When our family immigrated from Ireland in the early 1700s, they first arrived in Maryland’s Cecil County. It was from here they began to disperse throughout the entire country. The property known as Heritage 1865 came to be when our greatest grandfather, Samuel Ewing Jr., settled
in Wayne County back in 1865. Thus the “Heritage 1865”. Samuel purchased the land for his beautiful wife, Eliza, and their eight robust children. The price back in 1865? Only $19.12 per acre! Isn’t that amazing! Certainly the land is worth much more today. The value, however, isn’t in the cost per acre, it is in the love and care we give the property ever since that day in 1865 when we acquired it.
These beautiful lands and the family farm have been passed down from one generation of Ewing to the next, without interruption, since 1865. Today, Travis Ewing & loving wife, Abby, operate what has become known as Heritage 1865 Hunting Lodge and Outfitters. Travis founded Heritage on the fundamentals of family, education, land management, preservation, and a passion for the outdoors. Travis & Abby invite you to be their guests today!
